Description

Files app does not start — it gets stuck on the loading screen. I've tried reinstalling, resetting app packages, and checking dependencies.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Install Files app (Microsoft Store or GitHub)
  2. Launch the app
  3. The splash/loading screen appears and never proceeds

Files Version

3.9.7.0

Windows Version

version 24H2(OS Build 26100.3915)

User ID

The Files app does not open, so the User ID cannot be verified.

Log File

"The app fails before initializing LocalState directory or writing any debug logs. Likely crash during very early startup phase."

Can you check:

  1. If there's any log in Windows Event Viewer (Windows logs > Application and find Files.exe errors)
  2. If you can open %localappdata%\Packages\49306atecsolution.FilesPreview_et10x9a9vyk8t\LocalState\debug.log

@dev-korean are you able to reproduce this issue with Files Stable as well?

It seems that there is a bug like either using files or using preview. Neither opens.

C:\Users(user_name)\AppData\Local\Packages\Files_1y0xx7n9077q4\LocalState could not find debug.log.
